First capital of the kingdom of Asturias, with famous monuments like the Big Bridge, 1200 a.c. Jurassic Museum of Asturias
902 306 300. On the coast between Lastres and Ribadesella are a lot of dinosaur footprints, with some of the largest in the world. They can be easily seen on La Griega Beach and Vega Beach.
Sanctuary of Covadonga, Holy Cave Shrine and the Virgin figure (important destination of pilgrimage for Christians), and tombs of Kings Pelayo (Asturias first king and first leader of Spanish Reconquest) and Alfonso I.

Carlos V landed to reign in Castile and Aragon. Perfect to enjoy seafood in many restaurants. It also has deposits of footprints of dinosaurs.
The ancient Roman Gigia is today one of the most modern cities in northern Spain, with many activities, life and culture, emphasizing, among other centers and museums, the old University, today Laboral City of Culture (www.laboralciudaddelacultura.com). Essential places to visit are Cerro de Santa Catalina, with the famous sculpture by artist Chillida “The Praise of the Horizon”, the old town or neighborhood adjacent Cimadevilla, the Roman baths and many museums and palaces. In July they celebrate the "Black Week", famous international film festival, novels and comics.
Indispensable old town with lovely squares and streets. City founded on year 761 from a monastery on Mount Oveto.
In nearby Mount Naranco, must visit the most famous monuments of Pre-Romanesque: the Palace of Santa Maria del Naranco and the Church of San Miguel de Lillo, s. IX (santamariadelnaranco.blogspot.com.es). At the top of the mountain there is a spectacular view with a large sculpture of Christ the Redeemer.
Lovely old town, Niemeyer Arts Centre, with spectacular futuristic architecture typical of this great Brazilian architect and open to all kinds of artistic events (music, film, theater, dance, exhibitions, gastronomy...): www.niemeyercenter.org. On the coast, beyond Salinas beach, Philippe Cousteau Anchor Museum is a magical outdoor museum driven by the son of the famous oceanographer Captain Cousteau.
